Politicians are Stupid

The sheer stupidity of some politicians is amazing. It's almost as if they are in a hurry to shove their foots in their mouths. I'm sure by now all of you have seen or at least heard about the Mark Foley Scandal. I'm not even going there...but this congressman made some comments in response...

Shays on Foley handling: At least no one died

"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," the embattled Connecticut congressman told The Hartford Courant in remarks published Wednesday.

"Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added.

Shays' comments recalled the Chappaquiddick incident, when Kennedy's car ran off a Massachusetts bridge, killing his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy did not immediately report the tragedy, and he later pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident.

My first instinct is WTF! However, I supposes this is par for the course with politicians. Was it really necessary to take potshots at Ted Kennedy? I mean for christ sakes its Ted Kennedy, no one in this country takes him seriously anymore. What was the point in that? Also what did you gain by saying "At least no one died", yes numerous teenagers were harassed (poorly) by Mark Foley, but you're right, no one died. Thanks. Dumbass.
